Vision

Vision is a clear idea or picture of what God wants us to do or become. God must be at the center of it. As we have prayed for such a vision, God has placed these dreams in our hearts...

  • To be a life-giving community. The Father sent Jesus "to seek and to save that which was lost" that we "might have life" (Luke 19:10; John 10:10). Our mission is the same, so we focus most of our energy on helping people find life in Christ. In fact, almost every area of ministry at First Baptist Church intentionally communicates the message that Jesus saves. This is why we ask all of our members to give a few hours per month to serve as volunteers in one of our various ministries. Serving is vital to your spiritual growth (not to mention rewarding and fun). More importantly, serving allows you to be a part of God's life-giving work.
  • To be a life-transforming community. The Father and the Son send us the Spirit to teach us, guide us, and empower us, resulting in a transformed life (John 14:26; John 16:7). Life-transformation is therefore a key part of our vision. The power to change comes from the Spirit of God, but the means is the Word of God (Psalm 119:9) and the family of God (Hebrews 10:25, NIV). At First Baptist Church we teach God's Word faithfully, but we believe that transformation happens best when we are doing life together. An essential step in that transformation process is to become part of a LifeGroup. LifeGroups are small groups of 6-12 people designed to place you in a safe (and fun) environment where people encourage and care for one another.
  • To be a life-yielding community. As The Holy Spirit transforms us, He also sends us out with grateful lives yielded to God for His glory. God's glory and fame become our primary purpose. At First Baptist Church, we love to worship God together every Sunday morning and celebrate the work He's doing in us and through us every day. We surrender our lives, our time, and our resources so that the Father will be glorified (Romans 12:1, NIV).
